Have you ever thought of men who crave continual learning to meet professional challenges and be highly competitive in the marketplace but are not learning to meet the challenges of their adolescent children with unresolved issues. Why is this so?

These are legitimate concerns because we have seen too many examples of men and women who have succeeded in business and failed at home. Here I will provide simple but yet fundamental answers to these queries.

1.    Taking Responsibility: To start with, you have to start taking responsibility over your actions and failures. You have to take control over your life and family. The idea of blaming everybody else with the exception of yourself is obsolete. Make yourself accountable for the solution today.

2.    What is important to you: Most people are determined to succeed at all cost beside family. Nevertheless, the tragedy is that you are failing in the most important thing in your life, which is your family. You have to decide that your family is most important that you will give anything to build it.

3.    Balance: Most men will argue I am working so hard for my family. I have to provide for them and that is why I am always away from home, my wife and children. As heroic that may seem, whatever you do at the expense of your family no matter how good the intentions are its purpose will have be defeated with a home torn apart. You have to bring balance between your family life and work life. Family time is family time and work time is work time.

4.    Core values: It is important to identify and define what your core values are and build your personal and professional goals around those values.

5.    Seek help: Solicit guidance and become accountable to a mentor who is an example with solid family values and not someone struggling in this area. As you acquire business skills, you ought to acquire family skills too. Attend family seminars with spouse and children to acquire the knowledge that will help you become successful in building a solid home for you and your family.

6.    Give yourself to your family: You see, my friends things that money can buy cannot replace you. You may be successful in business and can command anything at the beckon of your hand financially for your family nonetheless you are irreplaceable. You have to give yourself to your family rather than toys for children and jewelries for your spouse. Please, understand that you are worth more than anything that money or prestige can buy to your family.
