Executive coach and author Marshall Goldsmith wrote, “Feedback is a gift that only other can give.”  So, if feedback is a gift, why do so many of us struggle with giving and receiving it?
Power is the culprit for much of the trouble we have giving and receiving feedback. Our motive may be to control people if we give feedback to someone. Our resistance to receiving feedback is possibly a resistance to change.

It can be helpful to get clear on the purpose of feedback before we give it.  Below are the five most common types of feedback and suggestions for giving each type.

Evaluation Feedback: Evaluation Feedback is the most common that you will find in the workplace.Unfortunately, it is also the kind that is the least helpful. The timeframe at which evaluation feedback comes is always at the end. At the end of a year your performance is evaluated. After a week-long class is over. At the completion of a project.  True, we all need to be willing to rate ourselves, and the evaluation feedback will improve our performance next time.  But why not give and get feedback when we can learn from it real time?

Real-Time Performance Feedback: This type of feedback is usually given by someone whose success depends on you; for example your boss.  While it may be couched as an observation or something for you to think about, when someone shares performance feedback, they intend for you to change your behavior.

It is helpful to get clarifying information when you think that you are receiving performance feedback.  Try asking, “what exactly would you like me to stop or start doing?” Once you get the feedback, make the change!

Fine-Tuning: This feedback comes from people who think you are generally doing a good job, but they see an opportunity for you to get even better by tweaking a behavior or two. One of the best examples I can give of fine-tuning feedback came from someone who participated in a course I gave.  She let me know how much she got out of the course, and then asked if she could give me some feedback.  She explained that my nodding my head while she and other participants were talking made her feel as though I was rushing them.  WOW!  I was blown away because I had no idea that this behavior had a negative effect on my audience.

Fine-tuning feedback is most effective when you share the impact a behavior has on you or on other people.  The person who is giving you feedback doesn’t want to change you or even to control you in some way. By sharing how your behavior is impacting them – they give the receiver the opportunity to change or not.

Feed-Forward: Goldsmith came up with this one years ago. It happens when you suggest to someone how to behave in advance of an action, rather than wait for after and risk failure. For example, my husband had a presentation to give to the executive leadership committee at work, which was the first time he ever did anything like that.  His boss coached him in advance as to the proper way to dress, when he would be expected to speak, and even how detailed to make his presentation.

Slap Upside the Head: Two years ago, a colleague who is also a great friend sat me down and said, “You are making yourself and others miserable.  What’s going on?”

Slap upside the head feedback should be reserved for only the best of friends.  It consists of observations about you, that people share with you because they care about you. In his book, Who’s Got Your Back, Keith Ferrazzi gives some great examples of this feedback along with the assertion that we all desperately need people in our lives who care enough to give it.

The person who gives slap upside the head feedback isn’t trying to control you or change you for their sake. They speak up because they know where you want to be and see that you are getting in your own way.
Summary
Those giving feedback:  Think through before giving feedback what the most appropriate form would be to achieve the intention you have for it.Don’t forget that if you are not someone’s superior, it is not appropriate to give evaluation feedback.  You can lead a horse to water . . .

Those on the receiving end of feedback:  remember that we are all unaware of how we come across at times, and feedback is the way we learn about these areas and have the opportunity to correct them.   Even when you don’t agree with it, view feedback as a gift. If it’s evaluation or performance feedback, you have a chance to change in order to do better in the eyes of others.  If it’s fine-tuning or slap upside the head feedback, you have the choice to change or not.

For any people who go through panic and constant worry while driving a car you may be happy to be told that there is a system obtainable specifically made for showing you how to overcome fear of driving. This is known as the Driving Fear Program and it has been created by Rich Presta. You can read a Driving Fear Program review by clicking here. There’s lots of folks out there that can live their lives free from panic and the symptoms of anxiety until they drive their vehicles. They will certainly find it useful to have a program to follow tailored especially for driving a car. There are various panic attack and anxiety systems to choose from but they will be crammed with subjects that won’t really apply to you.

The fear of driving commonly starts as being caused by an unpleasant experience which occurred when driving a motor vehicle. For many nervous motorists they may have always been worried about driving from his or her very first driving session and have found it hard to achieve confidence ever since.

Stress and anxiety whilst driving could take place from the actual instant the driver opens the door to get into the vehicle, or perhaps it may only occur under certain types of conditions. Stress and anxiety is often brought on by the worry of getting lost or having a breakdown and being stranded. Other nervous people simply cannot bear heavy automobile traffic and traffic jams because it makes them come to feel trapped without way of escape. One more widespread driving fear is going over bridges.

Despite the actual reason for your driving fear and anxiety all the time you experience your fear it’ll challenge your self confidence in driving. The sensation of fear and anxiety when you drive the car gets associated with the driving experience. Thus simply thinking about driving a car is often more than enough to result in stress and anxiety since you end up trained to associate driving a vehicle with anxiety. You’ll have come to think that whenever you drive a car you’ll feel anxiousness. It is possible to rise above your fear of driving limiting belief with a brand new one that provides self-assurance.

The fear of driving phobia is called hodophobia. You do not necessarily have to be a driver to be able to feel stress and anxiety whilst driving a vehicle a lot folks are afraid traveling as a passenger.

Panic attacks and anxiety have the identical root cause no matter whether they are experienced while driving a vehicle or in any other circumstance. They all are brought on because of the activation of the fight or flight impulse. This is the natural instinct for you to sense danger and to act to protect yourself. Your body is literally getting ready to remain and fight or to try to escape to safety. Panic attacks and fear and anxiety is an overreaction towards a situation you believe to be deadly while in actual fact you’re absolutely safe. You’ve ended up believing that driving is dangerous and this normal impulse gets activated too readily.

Fear and anxiety is a natural response to imminent danger and for that reason it doesn’t indicate that there is something wrong with you. Therefore whenever you go through those horrible symptoms you don’t have to think you are physically sick, because you aren’t. Driving worry is really a behavioural issue which you learned and you can unlearn it as well. Unlearning how to be nervous whilst driving a vehicle is going to disarm the trigger that triggers the flight or fight response to become activated. This is what the Driving Fear Program can teach you the way to do. This is how I was able to overcome my fear of driving.

Everyone knows that having a positive atitude is an essential element to being happy and healthy.  Listed below are three optimistic thinking pointers that will help keep your chin up and your head held high.  It’s not easy to stay positive , when life’s events don’t go your way.

The first of my positive thinking tips is to get in the routine of asking yourself the right questions.  What do I mean by this?  First of all, our mentality is for the most part controlled by the questions we ask ourselves on a regular basis.  Sounds ridiculous? Just watch your own thoughts for an hour or so.  The problem is that most people ask themselves bad questions.  Things like “Why does this always happen to me?” or “How come life has to be so hard?”  Many of these questions are based on the assumption that bad situations alway happens to you and that life is tough.  This only drills these beliefs deeper into your head and solidifies them as your experience the world.

Preferably instead, try asking questions that would be more beneficial to you.  Maybe things like “What is the positive outcome to this circumstance?” or “What can I be excited about today?”  Questions like these help strengthen positive beliefs into your mind and can help you stay optimistic.  It might be difficult at first to change your thought process (since you’ve been thinking and asking yourself the same style of questions for awhile), but is the results are worth it.

Another one of my positive thinking tips is to start keeping a gratitude journal.  This could be as effortless as keeping a little journal by your bed and writing down everything you are thankful for that occurred to you that day.  Write down what you are grateful for in your day to day life.  What you write down can be as simple as “I’m thankful I woke up this morning” or “I’m thankful it was a sunny and beautiful day”.  I remember once I wrote down “I am grateful I caught the bus to work just in time today” and then the next day I wrote “I am grateful I missed the bus because it gave me time to read the newspaper in a cafe while I waited for the next bus.”  If you implement this into your every day life, you will start to look at life with an optimistic attitude, helping you remain more positive.

The last of my positive thinking tips is to write down what you wish your life to be like.  Make sure you write down every single detail.  I wrote down as much as ten pages of specifics on my desired life.  I described where I wanted to live, how much money I wanted to make, what I wanted to do for work, and all the wonderful places I would travel to.  Doing this may take some time, but it will make you feel so good and so determined to make your aspirations come true, that I firmly recommend you find the time to give it a shot.

Follow my advice and soon you start to see life in a different perspective.  Positive thoughts can really help you change the way you see the world and yourself, you can create and manifest your desires all with the shift of your mind.

I desire that the following clause will help you to better empathise this topic.

jealousy is something that affects and disorderliness a heap of people over the country. While it’s very common to have occasional envy, letting any negative emotion can result in painful issues in your work life and family life. Here are a few ways you can command jealousy and keep it from laying waste your life. Here are a few ways you can master green-eyed monster and keep it from ruining your life.
Well I believe the key to learning to control jealousy is to just get yourself away from the situation. For example, let’s just say your neighbor just by a brand-new truck and you are envious because your truck is 10 years older and this truck is fully loaded. Frequently, well I believe in the long-run, the reason for being jealous well not matter a whit in the long run. Well the fact that your neighbor had a more attractive car and you at one point truly matter 10 years or 15. Learning to let go of material based jealousy is an ideal way to begin living a happier, simpler life.

Another way to control jealousy is to remember to boost your confidence. One of the biggest causes of jealousy, after all, is insecurity. Let’s say your brother has any awesome paying job than you do. Living with this knowledge can put an enormous damper on your own confidence?you are insecure, miserable, and fearful that you will never progress in your own career. However, in learning to like yourself a bit more, you can realize that you have positive traits and attributes that make you a valuable addition to your company. Try making a list of these abilities and attributes the next time you feel insecurity pulling at your heart. Keep it in a prominent place and use it as a reminder that you are useful and dependable.

Is your jealousy grounded in a romantic relationship? Many couples struggle with envy. A common example is retrograde jealousy, which is when one partner is jealous of another for having dated more people before meeting their current partner. You may also experience an irrational, jealousy fueled delusion that others are trying to seduce your partner or that your partner will eventually cheat on you. When it comes to dealing with this type of jealousy, talking out your problems as soon as possible is the best way to control jealousy. If you can’t work out your feelings between the two of you, try consulting a relationship counselor. He or she will be more than qualified to listen to both sides of the story and provide methods in which to banish the jealousy in your relationship before it creates too much damage. Learn more about how to control jealousy today!
