Anger is a very basic human emotion. Installed by nature and perfected by evolution, anger has allowed not only humanity but other organisms to prosper and survive. When used properly, the strong, raw emotions that anger manifests can be used to get things done, defend oneself, get points across effectively, and all without having to step on someone’s foot or violate anyone’s rights.

The proper expression of anger is where most people fall short; in actuality most people actually have problems with controlling their anger. Luckily there are symptoms that you can watch out for, helping to prevent or determine existing anger problems, allowing you to get help if need be. Just to give you an idea of what these anger problems symptoms are, here are a few examples:

Overly emotional: If you find yourself becoming too overly emotional regardless of how big or small the issue is, then it would probably be  good idea start looking for anger management techniques or seeking professional help before your emotions start to really get the best of you during critical situations where “keeping your cool” and staying rational is important.

Misplaced aggression: Being aggressive is actually an advantage, provided you know how to control it and where to use it. Getting aggressive about everything on the other hand, can alienate you to people faster than you can say “what happened?”. Misplaced aggression can create rifts between co-workers, family members and partners as well, and is a clear indication that you are losing control over your anger.

Exaggerated Issues: Angry people tend to exaggerate things, by being overly emotional and aggressive, small issues/problems can lead to big trouble. If you are one of those people that tend to see too much negativity and too much connection of one unrelated thing to another then you might have a problem on your hands. Anger can cause a lot of irrationalities in terms of action and thoughts, and this is one of the results.

Defensiveness: Don’t get confused, there is nothing wrong with getting defensive whenever the situations call for it. But justifying yourself over the smallest things can be an indication of losing control.

Trouble letting go: While it may be a normal human trait to hold grudges against those who have done something wrong. Holding on to the feeling or planning something to get back is not. Even just this pattern of thinking can be counterproductive as it can stall and even prevent emotional growth and maturity.

These are just a few examples of anger problems symptoms. If you feel that you are closely familiar with what has been mentioned here, then it might be a good idea to seek help or find ways of controlling your anger before things start to really go out of hand.
